Clive was born and grew up in Maldon, Essex. He moved to South Africa with his family for schooling and graduated as a graphic designer from the Johannesburg School of Art and Design.

 

A career change found him working in the yachting industry as a yacht captain. Occasionally he found time to record the wonderful anchorages that he visited, in his sketchbook.

 

Having cruised the wonderful coast of Maine in the USA for a number of years, he set up a business there to design and build outdoor furniture, before moving back to Cape Town, South Africa where he presently lives and paints.

 

Clive finds inspiration for his work from the wonderful Western Cape scenery as well as the many places has visited and sailed over the years including the Maine Coast where he tries to return as often as possible.
